Shhh…Do you hear that?
Me neither, and it is AWESOME.
Ever since my husband started his own company, he’s been working from home. And unless I’m on set, I work from home. I also live in my home, and I let him live here, too, which means I am never alone.
It turns out that’s not necessarily a recipe for rational behavior.
Me: “OMG, would you please-for-the-love-of-all-that-is-holy stop that?”
Him: “Stop what?”
Me: “Stop making that noise!”
Him: “What noise?”
Me: “THAT NOISE.”
Him: “This noise?”
Him: “That’s me breathing.”
Me: “Well, stop. It’s annoying me.”
This morning he left on a business trip, and I was so excited to have the place to myself I voluntarily fell out of bed at 5:30 to drive him to the airport, which is really 4:30 because “hey, screw you daylight savings.”
In my dazed and sleepless fog, I only missed my exit twice, exits five minutes from my home, which I have driven hundreds of times and could recreate out of popsicle sticks and paste from memory. Not that this bothers me. I would’ve driven him across the country myself if it meant sleeping in the middle of the bed.
The world is my oyster, and I’m eating Cocoa Puffs for dinner.
